I traditionally take a vacation in March. Usually during the latter half of the month to enjoy my birthday during the course of the trip. But the HA’s spring break is early, so we moved it up. We were looking at something rather pricey, perhaps a week in Key West. However, MBW and I wanted to pay off the mortgage this year, so we pared it back, settling on a few days in a resort in South Padre Island to which we could just drive. I made the reservation about a week or so before I lost my source of income. The good news is that we’d selected the less expensive option. The bad news was that the reservation was nonrefundable.
So, dispirited and wary of spending money, I took the family on vacation. It was an odd experience. We brought food with us and stocked the mini-fridge to avoid eating at the resort restaurant or any of the area selection. The vacation zones were thus the beach, the pool, and the hotel room. I spent a lot of time in the hotel, writing and sending out job applications. Not what I’d envisioned when I booked a resort experience at Margaritaville.

I do want to return when circumstances become more favorable. Preferably when a SpaceX launch is scheduled. The launch towers were clearly visible from my room. And I did get a glimpse of a rocket on a tower for some sort of testing.

No good news on the job hunting front. However, while on vacation I received word from the fine people at Raconteur Press that my next book, Twilight Galaxy: Dekason, is available for preorder. So, if you want to read the first, pulpy, sci-fi, action-adventure book of a new series, order your copy now. My mortgage company thanks you. And the HA’s coming need of braces. And tuition. And…well, we all have bills. I’ll find work to pay mine. Get a book for yourself, not for the author.
Fins up.
