Convention After Action Report

I’m sitting in the Nashville airport waiting for my flight out. With a few more minutes to spend, thanks to a delayed departure, I figure I’ll take the extra time to write today’s post.

This weekend Michael Z. Williamson hosted his seventh ConFinement convention. I believe this was my fourth attendance. I saw many of the usual faces. I was scheduled for two panels, both on Saturday. But I ended up sitting on three as I was volunteered to join a short-handed panel Friday night. Naturally, given that I was four beers in, that was my one panel that was filmed.

If you’ve been to a small con where most of the attendees are regulars, you’ll have an idea of the relaxed, congenial nature of the event. I did spend a few hours in my hotel room rather than mingling and socializing: I’m my own boss and refuse to let my employee take a day off. And books do require writing.

The hotel gym was lacking; sparsely equipped even by hotel standards. But I managed to get in a workout. Saturday I went out for dinner with a couple of guys I’ve come to know over the course of previous ConFinements. If you find yourself at Tenn Lakes Brewing, get the wings. You’ll thank me. And the Dopple Bock was tasty.

I believe I managed to plug the upcoming first volume of the Twilight Galaxy series, due out from Raconteur Press March 25 during one panel at least. And look, I’ve managed to promote it again. But just to be sure, remember to pick up a copy of Twilight Galaxy: Dekason in a bit over three weeks from now. Then get ready for the next two books.

Right, getting close to boarding. Bon voyage to me.
