The 2025 Rearview Mirror

I hope yours were merry and bright, that your halls were decked, and that any lingering reindeer pellets on your roof have ceased to smell.

2025 was…memorable for MBW, the HA, and me. But this isn’t the appropriate venue to rehash house-sale travails, or gnash my teeth over financial hiccups. Instead, I will review my year in writing. And on that front, at least, 2025 wasn’t too shabby, at least for a writer who earns his daily bread another way.

The Summer 2025 issue of Cirsova Magazine carried one of my stories. In October, Raconteur Press put out Mercs and Mayhem, containing a short story of mine from my Falchion’s Company series. Then in November, Cirsova released Cesar the Bravo, a collection of short stories and a new novel featuring the character. (Any of the above would make a fine late-Christmas gift for the reader you accidentally forgot to shop for. Just saying.)

Publishing moves at its own, generally glacial, pace. In 2025 I sold other stories that will not be out until next year. Don’t worry, I’ll (noisily and incessantly) provide details as publication dates roll around. 2026 should see the release of my three-book Twilight Galaxy series, to be published by Raconteur Press. And, though not yet contracted, I believe I’ve placed a 2027 novel with another publisher. So 2025 fruits remain to be picked.

Meanwhile I’ve been busily working on other projects. I do not want to reveal anything yet, and the publishing business is a fluid business. (Glacial and fluid, I suppose.)

So, before I return to working on one of the above referenced projects, allow me to wish you a Happy New Year, and plentiful 2026 reading.
